Gallery Notes
To the east of Edinburgh lies the county of East Lothian, officially the sunniest area in Scotland. With over 40 miles of magnificent coastline, golden beaches including those at Gullane, North Berwick, Aberlady and Dunbar, rolling countryside, spectacular cliffs, and the world’s finest selection of links golf courses, East Lothian provides many diverse experiences that residents and visitors can enjoy and appreciate.

There are two spectacular sights in East Lothian that are unmissable. At its peak in October, tens of thousands of winter migrating Geese flying in to Aberlady Bay at dusk and in the Summer, the incredible Bass Rock. Home to over 150,000 nesting Gannets every year, makes the Bass Rock the largest single island gannet colony in the world! And as for the light and the Sunsets, the photos speak for themselves.

Cycling and Walking in East Lothian is a joy. With a network of paths and cycle routes in quiet rural areas as well as through historic towns and villages, it is hard to beat the diversity of East Lothian for fabulous locations. Another worthwhile visit is to Athelstaneford where the the original Scottish Saltire, the St Andrew's Cross, was adopted as the Scottish Flag.
